Project
The Enterprise Centre at the University of East Anglia is a standalone, award-winning hub at Norwich Research Park and home to over 175 businesses focused on low-carbon and sustainable enterprise.
As a high-profile gateway building, it needed a clear signage and wayfinding system for visitors and event users. The scheme had to align with the wider UEA campus signage ABG Design had already created, while still giving The Enterprise Centre its own distinct identity.
Sustainability was central to the project. Any signage design had to reflect the building’s environmental ethos and perform well in a busy multi-use setting.

Our approach
We developed a tailored wayfinding hierarchy that mirrors UEA’s wayfinding scheme but introduces subtle differentiators in tone, materials, and detailing, making The Enterprise Centre feel confidently standalone.
Material choices were chosen to be sustainably sourced, or recycled. Sign faces were designed with pine sheets to bring warmth and a crafted, natural feeling, echoing the Centre’s low-carbon values and material palette.
Internally, this continued with a family of freestanding and wall-mounted signs using pine beams and recycled concrete bases, creating a robust, cohesive system that feels rooted in place.

Solution
ABG Design delivered a complete signage and wayfinding suite for The Enterprise Centre, aligned with UEA’s campus standards but expressed through a more tactile, eco-led material language.
The final system provides clear orientation throughout the public areas, supporting flexible building use.
