Location

Tower Hill, London, UK

Project

The Tower of London is one of the UK’s most visited and complex heritage sites, welcoming millions of visitors from around the world each year.

Historic Royal Palaces needed a clear, sensitive signage and wayfinding system that could guide people confidently around the Tower Environs, highlight key destinations, and support accessibility, all without detracting from the historic setting.

Solution

ABG Design developed the Tower Environs wayfinding and signage masterplan in close partnership with Stanton Williams Architects and the Historic Royal Palaces team. The scheme uses custom-drawn typefaces, clear visitor route icons to identify must-see locations, and a bespoke pictogram family designed to exceed UK Disability Discrimination Act requirements.

Multilingual communication was integrated at key locations to support international audiences. The resulting signage and wayfinding system provides clear, inclusive navigation while sitting comfortably within one of Britain’s most important historic landmarks.
