Minions Visitor Centre Exhibition

Client

Cornwall Council

Role

Interpretation design, exhibition design

Location

Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, UK

Project

ABG was appointed to create a new interpretation space for the Minions mining landscape on Bodmin Moor.

The Visitor Centre sits inside an old engine house, exposed to the elements with doors often left open — meaning the interpretation design had to be tough enough for wind, rain, and yes, the occasional group of sheep wandering in.

Solution

We developed robust, site-sensitive exhibition and interpretation displays that bring the story of Minions to life for visitors of all ages.

The content explores the area’s social history, the commercial rise and decline of mining, and the unique geology, mineralogy, and natural history of the moor.

Designed to withstand a wild landscape setting, the final interpretation creates a clear, engaging gateway into one of Cornwall’s most dramatic industrial heritage sites.
