Project
Newport Wetlands is a major RSPB reserve welcoming families, regular birders, and school groups to explore a changing coastal landscape.
The Visitor Centre needed a clear, bilingual signage and wayfinding system to help people arrive, orient themselves, and move confidently between trails, hides, and facilities.
At the same time, the site required layered interpretation design that could bring the wetlands’ habitats, species, and conservation work to life for a wide range of audiences, inside and out.

Solution
ABG Design created a coordinated package of external signage and wayfinding alongside a host of internal and external interpretation displays for Newport Wetlands Visitor Centre.
Working closely with the RSPB brand team, we ensured every element aligned with RSPB guidelines while still responding to the character of the site. All signage and interpretation were delivered bilingually in English and Welsh, supporting accessibility and local identity.
We also helped shape the Visitor Centre experience itself, integrating interpretation and wayfinding into the building design so that orientation, storytelling, and the visitor journey work together seamlessly from arrival through to the trails.
