Role

Brand design, signage & wayfinding, interpretation design

Location

Brownlow Hill, Liverpool, UK

Project

Victoria Gallery & Museum is a Grade II listed building located within the University of Liverpool campus.

Following our wider university signage & wayfinding strategy and scheme, we were commissioned to develop a distinct identity for the VG&M that could sit comfortably within both the institutional setting and the historic architecture.

The challenge was to create a contemporary brand and wayfinding system that complimented the building’s heritage while helping visitors navigate a complex, multi-level space.

Our approach

We developed a clean, timeless visual identity designed to bring clarity and cohesion to the museum. The branding established a modern tone while remaining sensitive to the building’s historic character.

Building on this, we designed a complementary wayfinding scheme that balanced minimalism with material richness, ensuring the signage felt integrated.

Solution

The final outcome is a minimal wayfinding scheme that subtly nods to the building’s architecture and ceramic detailing. Carefully considered materials and refined typography create a system that feels both contemporary and grounded.

The result is a cohesive identity and wayfinding experience that enhances the visitor journey while celebrating the character of the Victoria Gallery & Museum.
