Bath Abbey – interpretive exhibition design
The Footprint project at Bath Abbey is a £19.3 million transformative programme of capital works, focusing on the past and future of the Abbey. Thanks to this pioneering multi-million-pound initiative, the historic floor has been saved from collapse and the building has been opened up in new ways, to be enjoyed in its full glory by future generations.
ABG Design has been working closely with the Abbey team for many years, initially helping to secure the Heritage Fund bid. Following on from this, ABG Design was appointed as the lead interpretation designer, collaborating with over 22 different suppliers.
The aim of the interpretation project was to retell the ancient story of Bath Abbey in a dedicated exhibition in the newly built Discovery Centre. The exhibition contains a number of immersive interactives, one of our favourites featured on the right. ATS Heritage‘s expertise and creativity were instrumental in the design and production of the animation.
We set out to bring alive the heritage of this unique building, allowing visitors to discover the role the Abbey has played in the spiritual, social, cultural, and economic life of the city over the last 1,000 years.
