Cornwall’s new archive brand taking shape
Kresen Kernow will be an exemplary, modern archive and library space, bringing together the world’s largest collection of manuscripts, books and documents related to Cornwall, as well as the Cornwall Record Office, the Cornish Studies Library and the Cornwall and Scilly Historic Environment Record, for the first time.
Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Cornwall Council, Kresen Kernow will also safeguard the historic Redruth Brewery building at the heart of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.
ABG Design won a competitive tender to design the new Identity for the Kresen Kernow brand. The process was consultative, with ABG Design working in partnership with the Kresen Kernow team. The new brand mark was taken to public consultation with over 600 surveys completed to gather public opinion and comment on the brand.
Howard Miles, Managing Director ABG Design said, “We are really pleased to be a part of such a prestigious project and to be the instrumental design agency setting out the key principles of the project’s new Brand Identity and communications approach. The brand reflects the distinctive architecture and buildings in which the new archive will be housed”
ABG design are also pleased to have worked with Cornwall Council’s Kresen Kernow project team and contributed to the Heritage Lottery Fund bid which has been successful and has secured £11.7 million funding for the development of this important Cornish project.
