As part of ABG Design’s ongoing work with Bath Abbey, ABG has designed the new Discovery Centre exhibition underneath the Abbey.
When developing the interpretation for the Abbey and the new Discovery Centre we were guided by the following principles:
Show more than tell – avoid overwhelming visitors with text. Ideas are conveyed through objects, still and moving images and recorded voices, especially those that visitors would not normally encounter.
Surprise and intrigue – reveal to visitors aspects of the Abbey that they will find genuinely surprising and which will challenge their preconceptions in a positive way.
Thorough the interpretation we wanted to emphasise that the Abbey has and continues to be a vibrant, active part of the city of Bath, welcoming to all regardless of age or religious belief.
